The chic and eclectic coastal décor has a relaxed vibe that Hamptons Design is renowned for.

Opened in early 2017 Stones Throw Café and Bar is located in the heart of Townsville on Flinders Street and is literally a stone’s throw from the multi-award-winning Rambutan Resort, also designed by Hamptons Design Co.

When Hamptons Design Co is enlisted for a project, all aspects to benefit the project and fit out are considered.

A fitting focal point for the eclectic Hamptons style café was a 7 metre ‘Australian vintage’, ‘paper mache’ wall. The wall that was fastidiously laid out highlights famous Australian icons, products and people with the likes of Tim Tams, Vegemite, Crocodile Dundee, Bondi Beach, and The Great Barrier reef. The wall quickly became a talking point within the travel industry magazines and photographed by the multitude of international tourists that frequent the café.

Upon excavation of the ‘Stone’s Throw’ site, prior to construction, numerous old war relics were dug from the ground. Hamptons Design Co decided to specify a glass bottom floor within the café and the relics were placed back into the ground and lit for all to appreciate the items used, buried and forgotten about from World War II in which Townsville played a major roll in.
